School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)

The Tuloso Midway ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is an advisory group of individuals who represent segments of the community. The group acts collectively to provide advice and to make recommendations to the school system on various aspects of school health. The majority of the members of the council should be parents and students enrolled in the district. Additional members may include teachers, school administrators, district administrators, students, health care professionals, members of the business community, law enforcement representatives, senior citizens and clergy.

Research shows that healthy children do better in school - from attendance and behavior to academics and overall performance. The Tuloso Midway School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) works with the district to help school communities support good health and academic achievement. Membership to the SHAC is by annual school board appointment. Meetings are open to all interested persons. TMISD SHAC Committee meetings are scheduled at the discretion of the committee chair. Membership on a committee is open to anyone in the public who is interested in supporting children's health.
